The French Revolution
What is generally referred to as the French Revolution began in 1789, and actually consisted of several different power struggles that overlapped and fed off one another. To settle the fiscal crisis, Louis XVI convened an assembly of deputies elected by the nobility, clergy and Third Estate (everybody else).
