I especially enjoy planning Brazil trips that combine vibrant cities, nature, food and local culture. I love creating journeys that might connect Rio de Janeiro with the Amazon, Pantanal or the coast, depending on the traveler’s interests. Brazil is so diverse that I enjoy finding the right combination rather than trying to see too much in one trip.

I’m a great fit for curious travelers who want to experience Brazil beyond the classic highlights and appreciate having the logistics handled for them. I work especially well with travelers interested in nature, wildlife, food, culture and local experiences. I may be less suited to travelers who want to rush through many destinations or prefer a completely standardized beach holiday.

What’s your ideal 7–10 day route and why?

For 7–10 days, I love combining Rio de Janeiro with one contrasting destination, such as Manaus, Iguaçu Falls or the Pantanal, depending on the traveler. Rio gives you the energy, beaches, culture and iconic scenery, while the second destination adds a completely different side of Brazil. It feels varied without spending the whole trip moving around.

Travelers most often adjust the balance between sightseeing, relaxation and guided activities. Brazil offers so many possibilities that the first proposal often helps them discover what they really want to prioritize. I frequently end up adding a little more free time, changing the accommodation style, or replacing an activity with something more local and personalized.

Which regions do you love combining and which do you avoid?

I love combining Rio with destinations that offer a strong contrast, such as the Pantanal, Amazon, Bahia or Iguaçu Falls. I also enjoy combining Rio with coastal destinations when travelers want more relaxation. I avoid putting too many distant regions together in a short itinerary. Brazil is enormous, and a good route should account for flight schedules and travel time, not just geography.

What’s a common first-time visitor mistake and how do you prevent it?

A common mistake is underestimating Brazil’s size and assuming places like the Pantanal or Manaus are easy to connect with Rio or with each other. In reality, they often require city nights, specific flight schedules and lodge check-in times. I prevent this by building the itinerary around the logistics first, then fitting the experiences around it.

Three experiences I love recommending are exploring Brazil through its local food rather than only tourist restaurants, spending time in smaller neighborhoods and local markets, and getting into nature beyond the famous beaches. Depending on the region, that could mean a caipirinha and local meal with residents, a boat trip through the Pantanal or Amazon, or discovering a quieter coastal community.

When do you recommend slowing down and what would that day look like?

Accepted Answer

I especially recommend slowing down on the coast or after an active wildlife or nature experience. A perfect slow day might start with a relaxed breakfast, followed by a beach or short walk, a long local lunch and an afternoon with no fixed plans. In places like Bahia or Paraty, simply wandering, stopping for food and enjoying the atmosphere can be much more rewarding than filling every hour with activities.
