My favorite is Lima's culinary scene, then the Sacred Valley for unhurried days among Andean villages and ruins, Machu Picchu, Cusco's colonial charm, and finishing with a stay on Lake Titicaca among its floating islands and Aymara communities. It flows naturally with the altitude and leaves room to savor each place.

Time in the Sacred Valley, most often. First-time visitors tend to plan too little time there and too much in Cusco itself. Once they see how much the Sacred Valley offers- markets, ruins, and acclimatization benefits before Machu Picchu- many ask to extend their stay and trim a day elsewhere.

Which regions do you love combining and which do you avoid?

I love pairing Cusco and the Sacred Valley with Lake Titicaca. Andean culture and altitude acclimatization flow naturally between them. I'm cautious about combining the Amazon with a short Cusco/Machu Picchu trip; both regions deserve unhurried time, and rushing either shortchanges the experience I want my travelers to have.

Underestimating Cusco's altitude before diving into activities. I build in acclimatization time at the start of every itinerary, often via the lower-altitude Sacred Valley first, and brief travelers on pacing and hydration- small details that make a big difference.
