Check in, and spend some time relaxing and acclimatising to your new surroundings. During the late afternoon, your guide will meet you at your hotel and take you on a private walking tour of Split's old town. At the heart of it is the Diocletian's Palace, Split's ancient heart, and one of the best-preserved Roman ruins on earth. It was once the walled palace and summer residence of Emperor Diocletian. When the nearby Salona – the Roman capital of Dalmatia at the time – was sacked in the 7th century, refugees fled to Split and took shelter within the palace walls, and the settlement known today as Split was born. Your guide will show you the sights of Split's old town, explaining all the fascinating history that goes with it. After this insightful tour, relax and enjoy some fine local cuisine and wine at a local restaurant.
