DAY 2

Shared City tour and Pyramids of Teotihuacan

City Tour visiting the historical centre of Mexico City, one of the largest UNESCO World Heritage Cities. The tour includes major attractions such as the Zocalo (main square), the National Palace (if available) with the murals of Diego Rivera, the Metropolitan Cathedral, as well as a panoramic view of the Templo Mayor, the City of the Azteca culture, with over 2000 years of history. Continue the tour to Chapultepec Park, driving along Paseo de la Reforma, and at the end visit the National Museum of History and Bellas Artes.The Palacio de Bellas Artes is a cultural centre located in the Historic Center of Mexico City. Considered as the maximum house of the expression of culture, it is the most important lyric theatre and the most important centre of the country dedicated to all manifestations of the fine arts. Unesco declared it an artistic monument in 1987.Teotihuacan pyramids:This archaeological site was the most populated and dynamic city of the central valley in about 400 years AD. The Quetzalcoatl Temple, as well as the two impressive Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, are immutable witnesses of Mexico´s glorious past. At the top of the pyramids, you can get a superb view that spans all the plain.

La Merced Market

Come to the largest traditional food market in the entire city, called ‘’La Merced’’ located in one of the most colourful neighbourhoods, one of our guesses said, is like being Alice in (Food) Wonderland, of course, you will try some of this super original food, this will be a full experience!After this original visit, a special surprise is prepared to eat in a hidden family business restaurant dated from the beginning of the last century, you will enjoy the menu created by the recipes of the great-grandmother supervised by her great-grandson Romulo, some of them created with chilies, but also other menus created by famous artist. A perfect mix that combines the great character in popular neighbourhoods of Downtown Mexico City.Leave some energies to walk throw graffiti streets in a popular student street in the area of the Claustro of Sor Juan Ines, surrounded by pulquerias & bar, coffee shops, restaurants and traditional stores of the city.

Shared excursion to Puebla Cholula

After breakfast, you'll be transferred (share transfer) from Mexico City to Puebla. If the weather is good you can see Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl on the road.Puebla, "The City of the Angels", was founded in 1531, and is situated about 100 km east of Mexico City, at the foot of the Popocatepetl volcano. It has preserved its great religious structures such as the 16th–17th-century cathedral and fine buildings like the old archbishop's palace, as well as a host of houses with walls covered in tiles (azulejos). The new aesthetic concepts resulting from the fusion of European and American styles were adopted locally and are peculiar to the Baroque district of Puebla.Cholula is characterized for its several catholic temples, was built over pre-Colombian monuments by the Spaniards, such as the enormous pyramid in which tunnels you can admire pre-Hispanic murals and in its top is found the church of Nuestra Señora de Los Remedios.

Day trip to Monte Alban (shared)

Monte Alban was the ancient capital of the Zapotecs and one of the first cities in Mesoamerica. During its epoch, it was one of the most populated cities. It was founded approximately 500 years BC and flourished until 750 AD. Located in the central valley of Oaxaca, Monte Alban exercised political, economic, and ideological control over the other communities and surrounding mountains.Its principal constructions include the Great Plaza, the Ball Court, System II, The Danzantes (Dancers), Building J, Central Building G.H., the Palace, The southern platform, System 7 Deer and Tomb Number 7 of the Great Plaza. Tomb Number 7 is one of few tombs to have been found, and even though the building had deteriorated a bit, the treasures were intact.

Day Tour to Hierve el Agua, Tule Tree & Mitla (shared)

Visit the amazing petrified falls Hierve El Agua and enjoy the beautiful landscapes. From there on continue to Mitla, the second most important ceremonial centre after Monte Alban. The name Mitla or Mictlan is of Nahuatl origin and means "Place of the Dead". The most characteristic architecture in Mitla is the group of the columns, where we find the Great House of Pezelao, generally considered to be the most beautiful archaeological site in America. Afterwards visit the Tule Tree, known as the biggest tree in the world, with approximately 42 meters in diameter. 30 people by hand are needed to surround this ancient tree.
