About this photo
Built in the 12th century by the Crusaders, much has been added to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre over time. The church is famous for being constructed over the hillock where Jesus Christ was crucified and subsequently laid to rest. Today, several Christian denominations share this vast church, each with their own chapels, altars and services. Despite this bewildering mix of competing chants and the arresting scents of incense, the church is absolutely magnificent.
