About this photo

There are an estimated 3,000 wild elephants in Sri Lanka. They usually live in family groups of around 15, and are led by an elderly matriarch. They can be seen in virtually all of the island's national parks, or in sanctuaries or reserves, like the famous Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage.
