About this photo

Hot air balloon rides are the best way to see the vastness and majesty of the Bagan Plains in Myanmar. Home to 2,200 Buddhist pagodas and temples the land is renowned for its culture.

As you rise above the cultural capital you will see the glistening Irrawaddy River to the west and the hazy mountains to the east, with the area between filled with green and yellow vegetation that is scattered with historic structures. To add to the spectacular site take a hot air balloon at sunrise or sunset and see the sky turn various hues of pink and orange, casting a new light over the plains. Take a sunrise balloon ride on Insight Guides' Myanmar Highlights trip.
