Halong Bay, Vietnam

About this photo
Emerald green water surrounds roughly 1,600 islands and islets which rise from the Gulf of Tonkin in Halong Bay, Vietnam. The white limestone islands, covered in green foliage are practically untouched by humans, housing a number of species; they are of particular biological interest. Add to this the beauty of the landscape nature has created and you get one of the most exquisite sights in Southeast Asia. Cruise around part of this natural spectacle which spreads over 43,400 ha on Insight Guides' Discover Vietnam trip.
