About this photo

Humpback whales are a common sight along the eastern coast of Australia, particularly in New South Wales. The whales travel north from about May, heading into the warm waters of the Queensland coast. They return to the south between September and November. All the major holiday towns along the coast offer whale-and dolphin-watching cruises.
