Every year, actors and penitents from all over the world congregate on the Philippines to stage this symbolic performance during Lent. Re-enactments of the Crucifixion and sufferings of Christ take place. Some penitents go so far as being nailed to a cross on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday before Easter.
