Tradition requires that every Buddhist male enter the monkhood for a brief period before marriage. Most of Thailand's 300,000 or so monks live in wats (temples). Here they practice and teach the rules of human conduct that were established by the Buddha. In Thailand, there ae hundreds of Buddhist temples in the cities and suburbs.
