About this photo

Full of Parisian charm, the winding cobbled streets and pretty buildings of Montmartre naturally lend to the city’s romantic appeal. No trip to the French capital would be complete without wandering around the area, and a climb up the stone stairways to enjoy panoramic views from the famed Sacré-Cœur.

Whilst Montmartre was only officially incorporated into Paris’ boundaries in 1860, it has enjoyed a colourful association with some of the world’s most renowned artists. Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh and Pierre-Auguste Renoir all lived and worked here; at the time, rents were cheap (great for accessing studio space) and the area had a distinctly bohemian feel. For those wishing to enjoy the more extravagant offerings of Paris today, our Luxury Paris tour is ideal.
