About this photo

Mist descends over the Vltava River in Prague as the sun sets, leaving a purple light which shrouds the city as lanterns begin to shine on the Charles Bridge, lighting the way for pedestrians.

The Charles Bridge is a Gothic masterpiece, lined with beautiful sculptures and atmospheric at any time of the day. The numerous statues on the bridge were mainly added in the 18th century when the Italian fashion for bridge decoration spread throughout Europe. This bridge is such a landmark of the Czech capital that it has its own museum.
