About this photo

Rockefeller Center is a New York City landmark. Every year, around the festive season the largest tree in the city is placed outside the tall skyscraper. Lit up in the night skies, native New Yorkers and tourists come to see the famous Christmas tree and to ice skate on the open-air rink at its base. After Christmas the tree is taken down and donated to a charity called Habitat for Humanity; the stem is milled and the wood is used to build houses.
