About this photo

Many people head straight for the beaches in Phuket, Thailand, and give Phuket Town a miss. However, although it can seem busy and unattractive, the town has plenty of sights and shops, a sprinkling of good bars and restaurants, as well as some of the cheapest markets around.

The covered EXPO Market changes its stock of clothes and accessories regularly, so there is always something new to look at. Phuket’s oldest fresh-produce market is a daily bustle on Rangong Road with vibrant displays of fruit, vegetables, herbs, meat and fish. And the popular Talad Thai Rot is just outside town, selling everything from clothing to household items and pets. Visit Phuket as part of Insight Guides' Thailand Discovery trip.
