The pagoda is famous for its commentary on Buddhist scripture, chiselled onto 1,174 stone tablets, each with their own mini stupa. We travelled to Myanmar in November 2019. Normally we prefer to be independent travellers and arrange overseas travel ourselves, but Myanmar seemed a little more challenging, given to numbers of location and activities we wanted to cover in a 10 day period. What we really liked was the ease of communication via the web portal, the responsiveness of the local agent and the staff in UK/US and the help we had in getting the itinerary, accommodation and experiences that we wanted. On the ground the guides were excellent and logistics were seamless. The only negative was a day long trek that we undertook. The second part of the day long trek turned out to be more physically challenging than we had been expecting, but nevertheless our guide that day was, attentive and caring. Overall we can't fault the service and the whole trip fully met and often exceeded our expectations.
