As the largest stupa in Nepal, Boudhanath is a flourishing global centre of Tibetan Buddhism. The stupa is located on an ancient trade route from Tibet leading through the Kathmandu Valley. As a result of its location, Boudhanath has become home to just over 16,000 Tibetan refugees.
