About this photo

Ad Deir is a monastery in the ancient city of Petra, and possibly Jordan's most famous attractions. It is believed to have been built by the Nabataeans as far back as 2,000 years ago. After Al Kazneh, Ad Deir is the most visited building in Petra.

Other highlights here include: The Siq, arguably the most spectacular entrance to any ancient site via a sheer chasm; The Treasury, Petra’s most visited monument; The Royal Tombs or Theatre, the High Place of Sacrifice and Obelisk.
