The Insight Guides & Independent on Sunday travel photography contest is ending soon

So far we have been really really impressed with all the entries, judging will be tough but great fun

Here at Insight Guides we have been packing our travel guides full of inspiring travel photography since 1970. Rather than using stock photos, we commission most of our own photography, because we strive to capture the essence of a destination using original images that you won’t find anywhere else.

We're always on the lookout for new talent, and that's why we have just announced the 2012 Insight Guides / Independent on Sunday travel photography competition. If you think you know how to compose a perfect travel photo, then enter now! The winner will be given a professional commission, worth £3,000, to take photographs for one of our travel guides. It could pave the way to an exciting career in travel photography. There are also Olympus cameras up for grabs and a stay in a top London hotel. Budding young photographers can enter the under-18 prize.

The competition is open to any UK-based photographer, whether professional or amateur.  Entries should be submitted by Friday, 14 September 2012. The winners will be announced and their winning portfolio published in the travel pages of The Independent on Sunday shortly afterwards.
