A highlight of the Spanish equestrian year, the annual Jerez Horse Fair (Feria del Caballo), is currently underway in this upmarket Andalusian town, which is as famous for the stylish moves of its four-legged equine residents as it is for its sherry. The fair, which dates back centuries to 1284 and was initially a livestock show, takes place at the Parque González Hontoria, attracting horse-lovers from across the globe. Dressage shows, show-jumping, horse rallies and carriage competitions are complemented by attractions including stalls selling sherry and regional food, funfair rides, dancing and fireworks. The event runs from the 7–13 May 2012.
