About this photo

The well-preserved city of Guanajuato in Mexico is known for its steep, crooked streets, build this way due to the valley location. Most streets are so narrow cars cannot pass through, other are so steep stairs have been carved to make it easier for foot passengers; traffic tends to stay below ground on the main thoroughfares creating an old world feeling throughout the city. This is compounded by old brightly coloured buildings. The shades of pink and green on the building facades comes from the sandstone used to build them. Add a stop in Guanajuato to any of Insight Guides' trips to Mexico.
