Harbin's famous Ice Lantern Festival starts on 5 January each year and lasts for one month. Zhaolin Park becomes home to dozens of extraordinary ice sculptures, including animals, plants, mythical figures and famous buildings, all lit up from inside by coloured lights. On the north bank of the Songhua Jiang, Ice and Snow World is a huge exhibition featuring the larger works.
