Berlin has so many hotels and accommodation options it may be overwhelming at first to chose where to stay. As one of our featured hot summer city breaks this week, here's our selection of the five best boutique hotels in Berlin, with a  little touch of added luxury.

1. Ackselhaus & Blue Home ****

The perfect boutique experience: Each of the rooms at the lovely Ackselhaus apartments is individually styled (some include a kitchenette). Connected to the main hotel is the Mediterranean themed Blue Home, where those in search of urban relaxation can stretch out in the hotel’s Mediterranean garden, complete with fountain

2. Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin *****

Looking for classic luxury? The historic Hotel Adlon Kempinski has its gigantoid pillows ready-fluffed for you. You’ll find antique furniture and marble galore in the rooms, and its restaurant has won two Michelin stars. Your room may even have a view of the Brandenberg Gate, and you’ll be near such Berlin landmarks as Checkpoint Charlie, Pariser Platz and the Holocaust Memorial.

3. Casa Camper Berlin ****

You’ll find the Casa Camper by the splendidly hip Hackescher Markt, and fittingly this is a cool-looking, modernist building with stylish designer furnishings (plus free natural soaps and toiletries!). In addition to a Finnish sauna and 24-hour gym, The Tentempié lounge on the top floor offers free drinks, fruit, salads and snacks. Oh, and a panoramic view of the city.

4. Hotel The Dude ****

You can guess by the Big Lebowski-inspired title that The Dude aims to deliver a singular, personal stay—you even have to ring a doorbell to get into this centrally-located hotel! Alexander Schmidt-Vogel and Britta Bettendorf are your welcoming hosts, and you’ll find Moleskine notebooks, and Molton-Brown cosmetics in your room, as well as a whiskey and cigar lounge.

5. Hotel OTTO ****

A great bet for creative professionals, Hotel OTTO is sleek and stylish—its cool, modernist rooms feature a flatscreen TV—but also affordable. You can grab breakfast on the roof deck (smoked salmon scrambled eggs and sparkling wine? Why not!), and the hotel is located in Berlin’s Charlottenburg district, which is a stroll away from Berlin Zoo, Savignyplatz Square and Kurfürstendamm shopping street. (Bonus: Fair Trade products in the bathrooms.)
